Our clinical Pilates classes, are a 1 on 1 session which is specifically designed for your needs and goals. In our initial assessment session, we will discuss your goals and tailor a program to suit your needs.
Maya is a fully certified Equipment Pilates instructor through APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) and also a certified KX Pilates instructor. She combines her experience and knowledge in Myotherapy and Pilates to create programs that addresses the clients needs. Whether that be to improve general posture, balance, mobility and flexibility or improve strength and co-ordination.
Pilates is a low intensity muscle strengthening workout, that focuses heavily on building strong core muscles. It can promote flexibility, mobility, and good posture. What’s more, it can set your body up to complete other more intense strength training safely.
Building core muscles can help you complete everyday tasks more easily and lower your risk of injury. Pilates can boost your overall fitness and can help you train for specific strengthening for other sports, like running or improving your golf swing etc. Pilates can also compliment your aerobic or cardio exercise or other resistance training.
What is a reformer?
A reformer bed is an apparatus that Joseph Pilates invented to support his Pilates repertoire. Essentially it is a bed with a moveable platform (carriage) with springs and pulleys that add or remove resistance, and uses your bodies movements to roll the carriage along the frame of the reformer.
Pilates Equipment provides a great variety of exercises and increases the challenge using tension or resistance with the springs. The equipment can also help to assist those clients those with lack of mobility or injury, to complete a supported workout.
